Workcycles FR8

The FR8 (pronounced "freight") is WorkCycles' modular, city-utility-transport bicycle system.

It can be configured for many heavy-duty applications: carrying kids, shopping, gardening, delivery, industry, or just getting around with lots of stuff. With its super strong frame, comfortable tyres and excellent brakes it is ideal for getting the kids to school.

Thanks to it's enormously strong, step through frame, robust construction, sophisticated geometry and special carriers the Fr8 is able to carry seriously heavy loads with no effect on handling or stability.

The 4130 chro-moly frame is rust protected inside and outside, all fittings are extra strong, and the special wheels with fat tyres will take a beating.

On the school run it is possible to carry three children. The Child Saddle bolts directly on to the frame behind the handlebars, without interfering with the easy step through frame design. This is ideal for slightly bigger kids. You can carry two smaller children on the extra long rear carrier using standard Dutch style rear kids seat. Here is the Workcycles guide to which childseats work.

The clever geometry puts the bottom bracket directly under the saddle but the angled seat tube adjusts the reach as the saddle goes up. This means that one frame is suitable for both short and tall people, ideal for sharing.  Because the bike is so strong, a smaller person can handle the extra weight without a problem, fully loaded the bike cruises comfortably with no loss of control. Extra stuff can be carried on the front rack, either with a basket or box or just by using some luggage elastics. There are lots of other clever details. There is a steering stabiliser which holds the front wheel in a straight line when the bike is on the kickstand. Making it easier to load the bike. The bike has a full chaincase to protect everything from the weather, but the otherwise tricky job of fixing a rear puncture is made easier by the frame design; there is a removable section on the left-hand rear triangle so that the wheel can be left in place when you need to replace the tyre or tube. Because everything is enclosed you can leave the bike outside in all weathers without worrying about dirt or corrosion.

If you are bringing the kids down we recommend a trip to Corams Fields, and perhaps a Pizza at Ciao Bella.

Mens Crossframe +£80.00

Both Fr8 frame types feature a proprietary (and protected) non-radial seat-tube geometry called the “Adaptive Seat Tube”. The handlebar reach and seat tube angle actually vary accordingly with the height of the saddle, following the ergonomic norms of the population. To state it simply: A woman of 160cm feels as comfortable on the Fr8 as a man of 200cm. The Cross frame fits from about 175cm to well, we haven’t yet met a guy too big.

NniD +£2990.00

NniD plus Schachner mid motor with torque sensor. 36V 12Ah

Universal Modern

Both Fr8 frame types feature a proprietary (and protected) non-radial seat-tube geometry called the “Adaptive Seat Tube”. The handlebar reach and seat tube angle actually vary accordingly with the height of the saddle, following the ergonomic norms of the population. To state it simply: A woman of 160cm feels as comfortable on the Fr8 as a man of 200cm. The Fr8 Universal frame reliably fits riders from about 155cm to 200cm.

Luggage Racks

Rear Carrier Long +£65.00

City Front Carrier & Hebie kickstand +£110.00

The Fr8 front carriers are solidly affixed to the frame meaning that they don’t turn with the handlebars and front wheel. The frame geometry is also specifically developed for use with its carriers, enabling the Fr8 to handle easily and safely even with very heavy loads. This option includes an extra strong double kickstand.

Massive Rack +£250.00

The Massive Rack is a huge carrier strong enough for any load you dare pedal. A rock-stable and smooth working parking stand folds up behind the front wheel. The carrier surface fits Euro-norm 60 x 40cm boxes and bins perfectly. The Massive Rack was designed for industry and delivery but its also handy and fun for daily transportation if you don’t mind attracting some attention. Carry a couple friends to the pub.
Accessories

Childsaddle +£80.00

This saddle with foldable footrests mounted behind the handlebar is a great way to carry a child mature enough to hold on securely. You can easily talk with your child and they feel like they’re really riding. The simple frame bolts securely to the front carrier mounts on the down-tube and can be used in combination with a front carrier. How old must a child be to ride on this saddle? Well, that depends on the child and the situation. Some people carry two year olds for short hops but we think that’s too young. On the other hand most four year olds are absolutely secure sitting here. We’ll let you use your judgement.
