5th Avenue
Perhaps the ultimate bike for touring and urban use. The 5th Avenue shares the same Dedacciai Cro-Moly and stainless steel frame as the Silk Road but with 700c wheels for a lighter, faster performing bike.
By integrating the rack into the mainframe, weak points like braze-ons and screws are completely eliminated and the frame is massively re-enforced. This is particularly critical when touring with heavy loads, as any lack of rigidity in the rack or frame will cause the bike to wobble or shimmy, as well as being less efficient to pedal.
The 5th Avenue is offered in various versions, with the internally geared Rohloff hub, Pinion gearbox or with derailleur equipped drive train. The Rohloff version is equipped with an eccentric bottom bracket so the chain tension can be adjusted without using a tensioner while the Pinion model uses Tout Terrains unique TBA system for belt tensioning.
Tout Terrain frames are designed for disc brakes only. Disc brakes keep working in all conditions even if your rims are damaged, and give you plenty of clearance for big tyres and mudguards. All Tout Terrain bikes are fitted as standard with a handlebar stop which prevents the handlebars from turning more than 90° in the event of a fall or if the bicycle falls over, this avoids dents and scratches in the top tube. A simple and effective idea which is typical of the attention to detail on these bikes. With the built in rack, two different pannier height positions are available, in the lower position the bike has a lower centre of gravity to give better handling.
