Amber Road

When you need a bike that will go anywhere this is the one. For the woods and trails of our islands, here is a bike that will roll over everything in comfort, with big wheels, massive tyres and a comfortable riding position. Disc brakes give you confident control, loads of mud clearance and extend the life of your rims. If you want to go a little further the Amber Road has it all - a super strong steel frame, with all the luggage carrying capacity you could need for a trans-continental trek.

The built in rack both reinforces the frame and gives you the most rigid support for your luggage you could wish for - so important when you are climbing and your bike is moving around underneath you.

You can choose your transmission system between derailleur, rear hub gear with conventional chain or Gates Carbon Drive. If you change your mind later you can change the dropouts to fit. The steel tubing is oversized for rigidity and optimised for the big wheels and Carbon Drive. Fittings for all cables, hydraulic tubes and wiring are provided, as are solid mounting points for propstand (either chainstay or bottom bracket mount) and mudguards. The 29'er was a concept designed perhaps as a way off giving mountain bikers an excuse to buy a new bike, but actually the perfect formula for enjoying the woods at your leisure. The 29 inch tyres are actually the same as the conventional 700c, just fatter, giving more sedate handling and rolling more smoothly over obstacles. There is a good choice of tyres available, from thin walled balloon tyres like the Big Apple, through rugged touring tyres and knobbly off road rubber.
