The Go Swissdrive power assist system is available on all HP Velotechnik bikes and trikes. It uses a hub motor in the rear wheel which is sensitive to the amount of power you are putting in and offers different levels of assistance depending on which setting you are using.
It offers you the ability to travel further, faster and with less effort, but the exact benefit you will get depends a great deal on the type of terrain you will be travelling, the rider weight and how much assistance is used.
The Go SwissDrive 250W has 250W output and up to 70 Nm of torque, with a booster button for some extra assistance when starting off and a reverse gear for manoevring. Settings are changed using a push button control mounted to the end of the handlebars and there is a colour display showing speed, battery function, distance travelled and a host of other information, with transflective display technology so it is easy to read, even in full sunlight. It also has a USB port with smartphone integration for charging devices and Bluetooth for uploading data. The fast charging Lithium Ion battery has no memory effect and almost no self discharge, so it is always ready to ride. You can download the user manual here.
The assistive power starts quietly with the first turn of the pedal and is gently electronically disabled when you reach 25 km/h (15 mph). This is to enable the machine to qualify as a bicycle which means it requires no licence, tax or insurance. Above this speed, your trike almost rides like a regular cycle again – without gear friction losses thanks to the gearless hub motor.
If you specify the Go Swissdrive system it is delivered in combination with a 27 speed derailleur
The 500W Go SwissDrive is only available on the Scorpion S-Pedelec which in germany requires a special license plate.
