You are here

The Speedmachine is faster, more efficient and more comfortable than you would ever have thought possible. The oversized aluminium frame, full suspension and ergonomic riding position with excellent aerodynamics give you a great combination of performance and comfort.

Remember, at speed its the effort of pushing through the atmosphere that slows you down. On the Speedmachine your body cuts through the air with ease. And in this riding position your entire body is supported, so no pressure points!

A full suspension bike this low is possible because of the specially designed front forks which integrate the suspension into the head tube. The suspension is tunable for performance and works completely independently of your pedalling force. What it means is, if you accelerate uphill, you accelerate. And because it isolates you completely from the road, more of your energy goes into forward motion.

The Speedmachine is excellent for touring. The seat is at a comfortable height for getting on and off but with a riding position that gives you a big advantage in headwinds. It has loads of luggage capacity, the rear rack will take conventional rear panniers or giant recumbent specific panniers like the Ortlieb, but there is also an underseat rack which will take another pair of bags. You can also carry a bag on the top of the rack. Hydration is covered by the special water bottle mounts under the seat or you can use a hydration system like the Camelback.

This is an ideal bike for long Audax rides, giving you the speed and comfort you need to cover those marathon distances without discomfort. You might want to consider the under seat steering option for relaxed riding. Its also a great bike for racing. Its not fast enough to beat the lowracers, but there are enough similar bikes on the circuit to give you a good race and you will be competitive in Sports or Street class.

BodyLink seat

Perhaps the most comfortable recumbent seat you can get, the BodyLink seat adjusts to the natural S-shape of the spine: the combination of a rigid anatomically shaped seat base and a slightly curved back rest with a flexible intermediate section offers the rider perfect support over a large area. The height of the front seat edge and the lumbar support can be easily adjusted with a quick release lever. The same goes for the back rest. The length of the seat can be adjusted after loosening the 4 screws in the seat back so it will fit any size and shape of spine.

BodyLink seat with brackets for smaller cyclists

Brings the seat 4cm forwards.

Ergomesh seat

The ErgoMesh seat has a breathable mesh back and ergonomic side cushioning that provides extra side support when cornering, and a practical seat pocket integrated into the back rest of the seat. For extra safety it is equipped with reflective stripes on its sides. Both seats fit onto the same frame mounts and can be removed from the bike within 15 seconds by quick release mounts - this comes extra handy when parking the bike in the rain or for transport in your car. The ErgoMesh seat will give you a 3cm higher seat height compared to the BodyLink seat; a higher seat position offers a better view in traffic and you can get easily on and off more easily.

Ergomesh XL seat

The extra wide ErgoMesh XL seat is 5cm wider and the back support is 3cm longer for bigger framed people. Raises the seating position by 4cm compared with the Bodylink seat.

Under seat steering +£140.00

With the handlebars under the seat your arms hang comfortably by your side. HP use a separate pivot point for the handlebars, like an extra headset. Advantages; comfortable over long distances, short cable runs. Disadvantages, more wind resistance, harder to manouevre bike when pushing, extra pivots in system.

Above seat tiller steering +£80.00

With these bars your elbows are bent at approximately 45 degrees, bringing your hands closer to your chest. Advantages; aerodynamic and very comfortable, no need to adjust for different riders. Disadvantages; steering feels sensitive at first, you soon get used to it.

Above seat Aerobars

With this system your arms point straight out in front. Advantages; sporty aggressive handling, easy to manouevre the bike when walking or parking, give a good perch for lights. Disadvantages; needs careful adjustment to get nice and low (short cranks recommended), perhaps not as comfortable over long distance.
