X-Over
The X-Over (crossover). Its made of steel and it has hub gears, either the Shimano Alfine 11 speed, or Rohloff, with the option of belt drive. All of which should make it perfect for tarmac, gravel or mud.
It's the perfect companion for the active winter cyclist, but like any cyclocross bike, the combination of good brakes and big tyre clearances make it the perfect all-round bicycle. The X-Over makes a great commuter, a perfect winter bike or a versatile touring machine.
The X-Over comes in two versions, The Blacktop is the roadgoing version of the X-Over with 700c wheels and Schwalbe Durano tyres for performance road riding, but you can upgrade the tyres to Schwalbes G1 gravel tyres for rougher roads or swap them for something knobby and you have a great bike for cyclocross racing. The 26" wheel version of the X-Over is something like a good old-fashioned steel hard-tail, but running with hub gears and the option of belt drive it's ideal for reliable low maintainance mud-plugging. Comes as standard with 26" wheels and Schwalbe Racing Ralph 26" x 2.25" tyres. GT models all have dropped handlebars and use Cinq5 top mount shifters with the Rohloff hub.
Using a gear hub means you get low maintanance and perfect shifting in all conditions, and you have the option of either standard chain drive or the Gates Carbon Drive® CDX belt for smooth long lasting reliability. Enclosed gear and brake cables with sealed end caps reduce the risk of the cables freezing. With the hydraulic discs braking is also excellent at low temperatures and in the wet, and on the GT dropped bar version you have the option of TRP Hylex hydraulic disc brakes for road handlebars - on the gold level specification they come as standard.
A final touch - the high quality dynamo lighting with the integrated C-Light for brilliant lighting in poor weather and the option of The Plug - a charger for all your electronic devices hidden discreetly in the handlebar stem.
